00:00   Scene 4 begins with a single chord. Wozzeck enters and searches for the knife.
00:18   Spoken dialogue, but still animated, very thin orchestration.
00:47   The orchestra builds as Wozzeck shouts "Murder".
01:01   He discovers the body of Marie, strings accompany.
01:30   "Murder! Murder!" is shouted within a sprechstimme setting. 
01:38   He finds the knife and throws it in the water, the orchestra plays a falling harmonic passage.
02:09   The moon rises and is dark red. Wozzeck sees blood everywhere. 
02:30   He wades into the pond to hide the knife and wash off the blood. He believes he is washing in blood. He drowns. The orchestra rises in pitch, slows and softens.
03:19   The Doctor and Captain enter.
04:07   They discover the drowning, but do nothing, descending melodic line played by the celesta.
04:32   Orchestra stops completely.
04:45   Orchestral interlude starts with the low strings and low woodwinds. Polyphonic texture builds gradually.
05:30   Building intensity.
05:50   Horn melody followed by the harp and dissonant chords.
06:50   Sudden increase in activity and volume, texture becomes more dissonant.
07:22   Percussion instruments feed the building texture.
07:48   Full orchestra leading to a climax and slow decrescendo.
08:27   Restful final cadence.
08:38   Scene 5 begins with children's voices playing. 
09:00   Marie's child, riding a hobby-horse, is told that her mother is dead.
09:06   The children run to see, Marie's Child stays on the horse.
09:22   The music winds down and stops. The child runs off after the other children.
